3D Segmentation of Maxillofacial Structures

Pre-Congress Workshop. Tuesday 28/1/2025. 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Dr. Nermin Morgan

BDS, MSc, PGS advanced medical imaging, PhD

Lecturer of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University, Egypt,

  • Digital dentistry involves utilizing dental technologies throughout various stages of dental procedures, including diagnosis, patient communication, and treatment planning. Incorporating digital technologies can streamline dental procedures, save time, enhance accuracy, ease treatments, and elevate outcomes to meet the increasing demands of patients.

In most digital dental workflows, the primary and crucial step is image segmentation to create 3D models of dentomaxillofacial structures. Any errors at this stage can lead to inaccuracies in subsequent steps.

    • Highlight practical applications of image segmentation

    • Explore segmentation strategies

    • Showcase current and advanced segmentation tools

    • Conduct image segmentation using open-source software

  • Nermin Morgan, BDS, MSc, PGS in Advanced Medical Imaging, PhD, is a lecturer of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University, Egypt.
